UNO's Biggest Fan: Marc Miranne (BS Finance 83, MS Accounting 85)
Walking into Marc Miranne’s office it’s impossible not to be dazzled by the many awards decorating his walls. Surrounded by Marc’s CPA certificate and awards from Edward Jones, his two UNO diplomas hang prominently as the focal point of the wall: the first honoring his 1983 finance degree and the second, his 1985 accounting degree. After years as a CPA, Marc returned to his background in finance as a financial advisor for the international investment firm Edward Jones. His overall UNO experience holds many fond memories; it is where he met his sweetheart as well as lifelong friends as a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Marc calls himself one of UNO’s biggest fans and owns both a silver and a blue car to prove it. UNO has touched nearly every aspect of his life and for that he holds the university very dear to him. Marc feels strongly that, “UNO is still, and always will be, an amazing urban university that provides a quality education in the best city in the world.” Marc loves the city of New Orleans and never had any desire to go elsewhere. UNO provided the network that enabled him to succeed professionally and personally and is perhaps his most valuable asset. Marc credits his UNO education and the prominence of UNO’s business department for much of his success. “My UNO degree helped me to be taken as a serious candidate when I began looking for a job.” Marc’s life was dramatically impacted by UNO and he is confident that at some point everyone in the city of New Orleans will be touched by UNO as well.
