Hitt Distinguished Alumnus, serves as Chief Executive Officer of Geocent, L.L.C, one of the largest information technology and engineering services companies headquartered in New Orleans. Geocent was formed in 2008 to acquire and integrate several related firms in the fields of information technology, engineering services, and defense and aerospace manufacturing support. Since then, the company has grown more than 300% and added over 200 IT and engineering professionals.

In addition to serving on the board of the UNO Foundation, Savoie has been awarded NASA's Distinguished Public Service Medal in 2011, among other honors. He was appointed by Governor Jindal to the BioDistrict New Orleans Board in 2010 and has earned Tech Council Ewards in the past, including Best Application of Technology that same year, Growth Company of the Year President in 2009, and Growth Company of the Year CEO in 2003. He was a standout nominee for the University of New Orleans 2012 Homer L. Hitt Distinguished Alumnus of the Year and has been named Alumnus of the Year for both Loyola University in 2008 and Ascension Catholic High School in 2003.

Savoie currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of the National World War II Museum, GNO, Inc. and the Ochsner Health Foundation.  He is a member of the Board of Directors of Geocent and Longenecker & Associates.  He previously served as a Director, Trustee and/or Senior Advisor for the Atlantic Council of the United States, the Louisiana Technology Council, the U.S. Small Business Technology Foundation, the New Orleans Business Council, the Boy Scouts of America, the Academy of the Sacred Heart, the J. Bennett Johnston Science Foundation and Isidore Newman School.

Before earning his Ph.D. in Engineering and Applied Sciences with a specialization in Engineering Management from UNO in the spring of 2009, Savoie received an MBA from Loyola University (’81) and a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from LSU (’80). His commitment to and generosity toward his Alma Maters, and his continued involvement with the University of New Orleans make him a remarkable member of the UNO Alumni community.
