Association History

The University’s Alumni Association was established in 1961 by members of the first senior class. Founders included Nolan J. Guillot, Jr. (SC 62), George Sutton (LA 63) and Joe E. Walker (LA 62). Joe Walker served as the first president.

With a true grassroots beginning, the group’s initial activity focused on providing political support for the fledgling University. Leaders met often to hand address all correspondence. Their efforts have laid a strong foundation upon which future graduates can build.

Today’s UNO International Alumni Association is committed to achieving the goals of the University leadership:  Student Success (recruiting and retention), Public Relations, Advocacy and Alumni Cultivation.
