Crawfish Mambo Cook-Off & Music Festival on the Lake
The newest event presented by the UNO International Alumni Association opens the campus to the entire New Orleans community with an irresistible music and all-you-can-eat crawfish festival. What better way to celebrate our one-of-a-kind city, culture and THE University named for it, than with two, totally unique New Orleans favorites: mudbugs and music! Not only does Crawfish Mambo feature non-stop music by up to six live local bands, attendees get to sample all-you-can-eat crawfish prepared by 25+ teams competing for the Best of Boil Championship title and Crowd's Choice award which come with our exclusive Mambo Paddle Trophy and years of bragging rights! Eight hours of non-stop crawfish and incredible live local music? We defy you to beat it!
After a smashingly successful first year, the Alumni Association looks forward to making Mambo an annual tradition, creating a greater visibility for the University and establishing it as a valuable (and fun) cultural and intellectual institution in the City of New Orleans.

UNO Alumni Golf Classic
The UNO International Alumni Association Classic has become one of its longest running traditions. Typically the first week of May, the Classic provides a great opportunity for alumni and friends to play hooky in support of their alma mater. In 2011, we shook things up by partnering with the Privateer Athletic Foundation to host a a bigger, better, badder UNO Alumni & Athletics Golf Tournament at Louisiana’s premier course, the TPC-Louisiana on Friday, September 16, 2011.

UNO Jazz at the Sandbar Series
For over 20 years, UNO's Jazz at the Sandbar performances have impressed jazz aficionados, entertained the community and provided a uniquely New Orleans educational experience for the UNO student ensembles paired on the bandstand with renowned jazz musicians.
Recently returned to the dazzlingly restored UNO Cove, Jazz at the Sandbar has reunited students, faculty and community members with a long-standing Jazz tradition. The Spring 2012 season included jazz greats like Grammy nominated trumpeter Claudio Roditi and singer Banu Gibson.
Jazz at the Sandbar is presented by the UNO Jazz Studies Program with support from the UNO Student Government Association, WWNO Public Radio, Nate & Priscilla Gordon, The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation, the UNO International Alumni Association and the New Orleans Jazz Celebration.
General Assembly & Distinguished Alumni Brunch
The Association brings together UNO friends and graduates to honor its Homer L. Hitt Distinguished Alumni and to celebrate the installation of our new Alumni Association President and Board of Directors at the Annual General Assembly Brunch. Don’t miss the chance to mingle with your UNO family and to experience the successes of UNO’s programs of distinction with hors d’oeuvres by UNO HRT, music by a UNO student ensemble, and in 2011, a short film by a UNO film maker.

Ring Ceremony for UNO Students
Twice a year, in the month preceding each Commencement Ceremony, the University of New Orleans Alumni Association hosts a Ring Ceremony at which juniors and seniors with at least 75 credit hours receive their UNO Official Class Ring. The ring is second only to the diploma as a symbol of academic achievement. Families, friends and alumni are welcome to celebrate this milestone on the students' route to becoming graduates!
Our newest tradition, Senior Week is a partnership with Student Affairs which gives alumni an opportunity to support the success of UNO’s newest graduates in a variety of meaningful ways:
- Dine Like a Professional – Seniors dine at a real luncheon while they receive tips for arranging and navigating networking and business lunches with confidence and superb etiquette.

- Graduate & Alumni Social – UNO alumni and graduating seniors mingle at a local tavern and share information about professional goals and opportunities.
- Commencement – UNO alumni greet and welcome our newest graduates as they queue up just before Commencement Ceremony. Be there to help get their tassles aligned, congratulate them, encourage them to stay involved!
